CEBU, Philippines - The official custodian of the pilgrim image of San Pedro Calungsod has urged the politicians, especially those who will be given the people’s mandate during the elections on Monday, to use the Filipino saint as model in public service.
Fr. Charles Jayme said that winning candidates must serve the public without expecting something in return.
“Whoever will win in the elections, may they imitate the way San Pedro Calungsod do public service, which is giving service to the people without expecting something in return,†said Jayme, who just arrived in Cebu from the Duaw Nasud activity the other day.
Jayme added that San Pedro Calungsod is a model of what true service means and a model of faith, which should be the way leaders govern the people.
“Those who are vying for public position, they must govern the people properly and continue serving the public truly,†Jayme said.
Meanwhile, Jayme said that after the Panay, Romblon and Antique visits of the Duaw Nasud, the next stop will be in Davao this coming July.
Jayme said that they are now also in the planning stage of the different activities to commemorate the first anniversary of the canonization of Calungsod in October. (FREEMAN)
