Senatorial bets in Cebu with promises
CEBU, Philippines - National candidates continue to woo Cebuano voters with elections getting nearer.
United Nationalist Alliance senatorial candidate Joseph Victor “JV†Ejercito Estrada said that Cebu’s vote is a huge factor for a candidate to make it.
“Cebu is very important. I have been away from campaigning for one week. I am catching up in my campaign. That is why I am here,†said Estrada, who was hospitalized last week.
Team PNoy senatorial candidate Cynthia Villar said that the Cebuano votes is likewise important and if elected, she promised to give Cebuanos jobs and livelihood.
Dubbed as “Misis Hanepbuhayâ€, Villar said that some groups in the downtown Cebu asked her to help them contain their waste plastics and turn these into livelihood.
“Nakausap ko sila and once elected, I will give them pulvorizing machines para ma process nila yung waste plastics at magiging malinis pa ang ating kapaligiran,†said Villar.
She added that the Villar Foundation, where she is the managing director, will be there for life to provide jobs and livelihood especially among the poor Filipinos.
Re-electionist Senator Chiz Escudero said that he has been giving a huge portion of his pork barrel for Cebu like the P24 million worth barangay aid in Cebu City, P34 million worth for the indigent patients of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, as well rehabilitation of public markets, among others.
If elected, Escudero said that he will fund more scholars in Cebu to enroll in private schools and provide dialysis machines for the provincial hospitals here.
Team PNoy senatorial bet Grace Poe also said that if elected, the Cebuanos who are very artistic shall get free trainings in the arts like dancing, singing, sketching and others in the barangay level.
Over the weekend, several senatorial candidates visited Cebu, a province with over 2.5 million voters.
Aside from Villar, Estrada, Poe and Escudero, Aurora Rerpesentative Edgardo “Sonny†Angara, former senators Richard Gordon and Miguel Zubiri were here and recognized the importance of Cebuanos.
It was observed that since the start of the campaign period last February 12, 2013, majority of those who are coming to Cebu many times to campaign were those who landed in the Top 12 senatorial slates. —/JPM (FREEMAN)
