CH lawyers asked to probe resto bar owner in Mabolo

Rene U. Borromeo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Council has requested the legal office to look into an alleged violation of the anti-noise ordinance committed by a private establishment selling liquor and beverages in Barangay Mabolo.

Mabolo councilman Efren Sanico complained against a restaurant along Pope John Paul II Avenue for using a loud sound system. Sanico sought the assistance of the city council through Councilor Alvin Dizon.

According to Sanico, the restaurant, name withheld by The FREEMAN, is disturbing the residents in the area during night time.

Sanico said the residents have complained to the barangay because they could not sleep at night because of the excessive noise from the establishment.

Aside from the violation of the anti-noise ordinance, the council asked the legal office to find out if the restaurant is paying correct taxes and business permit from the city government.

Members of the council requested the legal office to render a report and guide them on what specific actions the city government should do against the erring business establishment.(FREEMAN)
