Seniors to get aid next week

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City’s senior citizens will be P4,000 richer this Holy Week.

Mayor Michael Rama yesterday announced that the 60,000 senior citizens in Cebu City who are accredited by the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) will receive their P4,000 financial aid on Monday and Tuesday.

The distribution of the cash assistance cannot be done in just one day due to the lack of disbursing officers who are allowed to bring huge amount of government funds to the distribution area.  The total cash assistance to be released is P240 million.

Rama said he already instructed City Treasurer Emma  Villarete to prioritize the release of the senior citizens’s cash assistance.

The distribution  will be done in the barangay’s sports complex or in a public school.

OSCA head Rolando Llaguno advised the seniors to coordinate with their respective chapter presidents. — (FREEMAN)
