Police nab suspected robber
CEBU, Philippines - A suspected robber who robbed and shot a female university student was arrested by the police in Barangay Labangon last Friday.
Quid Reyes Abella, 21, was arrested by Punta Princesa police chief, Chief Inspector Renero Agustin, at his house in sitio Cicalco. He was found in possession of a Caliber .38 revolver and two sachets of shabu.
PO2 John Klyde Valera said that Abella was identified by several witnesses as one of the two motorcycle-riding robbers who shot Renelene Lagudas, 19, an Architecture student at the Cebu Institute of Technology-University, during a robbery incident at the corner of Salvador Extension and Tres de Abril last Tuesday evening.
The victim was on her way home when the suspect and an unknown companion demanded her iPhone. Lagudas resisted prompting the suspect to shot her. Fortunately the victim survived from the attack and is now recovering in the hospital.
According to the police, the suspect was identified by the witnesses through his tattoo.
“Nailhan siya tungod sa patik sa iyang braso (He was identified through the tattoo on his arm),†said Valera.
Valera said the suspect tried to hide himself when they went to his house last Friday evening. But he was eventually arrested. He will be charged for illegal possession of firearm, violation of the Comelec gun ban and possession of illegal drugs on top of the robbery with frustrated homicide. (FREEMAN)
