Magpale to file complaint vs Garces

CEBU, Philippines - Just let her file because I had no monkey business, Garces retorts.

Acting Governor Agnes Magpale is contemplating on filing of charges against former Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head, Marivic Garces, for alleged irregularities in the purchases of rice and noodles during her term.

Garces welcomed the threat of Magpale, saying she is ready to answer the charges that will be filed.

“Just let her file any kind of case kay ako ra na siyang tubagon basta all I know is that I was not doing any monkey business with my job when I was with the PSWDO,” Garces said.

Magpale yesterday said that they are conducting inventories of the rice stocks of the Province of Cebu and they found some irregularities.

Magpale, however, did not reveal yet what specific case she will file against Garces.

Garces said that her transfer to the Integrated Provincial Health Office is illegal because Magpale failed to specify in her memorandum the specific duties and functions.

In the absence of her new functions, Garces is doing the usual work as social worker while at the same time helping the IPHO.

Garces also clarified that she is not a nurse contrary to what Magpale earlier claimed.

Garces also said that while she is detailed at IPHO, she is still the legitimate holder of the position while Evelyn Senajon who is Magpale’s choice is just officer-in-charge of PSWDO.

Provincial General Services officer-in-charge Eva Encabo earlier said that based on their inventory, there are boxes of noodles that are expiring this month but were not distributed yet.

Garces explained that the noodles were purchased last year for the victims of Typhoon Pablo.

But because of the tension in the Capitol last December and the change of administration, they were not able to do the distribution.

Garces said that she could not be blamed for the supplies that were not distributed and the present officer-in-charge of PSWDO should have done the distribution.

But Senajon explained that if there was proper turnover, she could have proceeded with the distribution of the goods.

Garces also explained that during her stint as head of the PSWDO, she made sure that proper process was followed in the distribution of National Food Authority (NFA) rice to the typhoon and earthquake victims in Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Dumaguete City.  (FREEMAN)
