CEBU, Philippines - A 20-year-old electrician died after he was electrocuted and fell off the roof while installing electrical wiring in East Binabag, Barangay Tayud, Consolacion, Sunday morning.
Gerald Lauron, a 4th year student of Comprehensive High School and of La Purisima, Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City, was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at the Mandaue District Hospital. Lauron reportedly suffered burns on his hands and a lacerated wound in the head after he fell to the ground.
Police advised the family of Lauron to subject him for autopsy to determine the real cause of his death.
Police investigator PO2 Roosevelt Matuog, said that Lauron’s instructor, Vergilio Ruiz, 50, of Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City, asked him to install electrical wiring at his house earlier.
Lauron was enrolled in a skills program of the CHS accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
Matuog said Ruiz hired Lauron to install electrical wiring at his new house at that time. Lauron was on the roof when Ruiz and Puldo Aroa, carpenter, reportedly heard something fall to the ground.
Upon checking, they found Lauron lying on the ground with a head injury.
Matuog suspected that Lauron possibly got electrocuted before he fell from the roof of the house.
“Dunay paslot iyang kamot pero nabuak pud iyang ulo sa pagkatagak, (His hand has blisters and his head cracked due to the fall,)†Matuog said in a phone interview.
