2 commit suicide in separate incidents

CEBU, Philippines - A 24-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself early morning yesterday in Barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City.

Ariel Siarot, 24, who has a live-in partner, was found hanging lifeless at around 11:00 in the morning, with a nylon rope looped around his neck. The other end of the rope was tied to the branch of a Mango tree.

SPO3 Henry Acosta, homicide investigator, said Siarot’s live-in partner noticed that the victim seemed depressed a few days before he ended his life.

“Dili ra man pud kuno ni magtingog-tingog pero magsige ug kaguol, (The victims was reportedly sad all the time.)” he said.

Acosta, however, said they are yet to ascertain the cause of his death and will submit the body for autopsy.

Meanwhile, Giovannie Gomez, 23, of Barangay Likos, Danao City, was also found hanging lifeless inside the house of his sister, Elen Gika last Saturday morning.

Gomez was found with a nylon rope looped around his neck with the other end tied to the ceiling of the house.

PO2 Roselo Campo, of the Danao City Police Station, said Gomez had been staying with his sister for a few days.

Last Friday, Gomez attended a fiesta celebration in the neighboring sitio. It was the last time Gika saw Gomez alive.

Campo said it was around 4:00a.m. when Gika decided to go out of the house and there she found Gomez hanging dead. The body was submitted for autopsy. —MIT (FREEMAN)
