CEBU, Philippines - The FREEMAN and Philstar.com have partnered with SkyCable for the most comprehensive coverage of this year’s Sinulog festivities, particularly the Grand Parade on Sunday, November 20.
The special Sinulog page on Philstar.com will stream the Grand Parade live from “sunrise to sundown,†as how SkyCable describes its coverage of the event. The Grand Parade begins as early as 7 a.m. when participating contingents hit the city’s streets until they reach the Cebu City Sports Center for their individual final performance. The event can last up to 9 p.m. and, as in previous years, is expected to attract thousands.
Glynda Descuatan, SkyCable’s Area Manager for Production and Airtime Sales, said the partnership would allow SkyCable to expand its reach and serve more viewers.
“SkyCable believes that it is only in partnership like this that our role in media is made more meaningful, as we expand our reach, especially for a religious festival like the Sinulog,†Descuatan said.
Meanwhile, Jules Salonga, operations manager of Philstar.com who is based in Manila, said the coverage with SkyCable would bring Cebuanos and Filipinos from all over the world closer to home.
“This is a very exciting thing that we are doing. Sinulog has crossed the digital space. The live feeds, the live streaming, and the richness of the content we have on our pages like the stop motion photography and real time shares make me feel I am right there in the middle of the festivities. We are bringing Sinulog everywhere with this project,†he said.
The FREEMAN and Philstar.com are members of the Star Group of Publications.
SkyCable will field nine cameras during the Grand Parade – seven at the sports center where it will also set up a mobile studio and three in the streets. SkyCable has covered the Grand Parade live since 1998 and started streaming in the Internet live five years ago.
Aside from the live video coverage, revelers at home and in the streets can also get breaking news and up to the minute updates of the Grand Parade through their social media accounts by following The FREEMAN and Philstar.com on Twitter - @TheFreemanNews and @PhilstarNews – and on Facebook – www.facebook.com/thefreemannews.
