CEBU, Philippines - Two women lost their cash and valuables worth over P300,000 to robbers in different robbery incidents in Danao City last Friday.
One of them, Marry Ann Albi, 43, a worker at Cebu Mitsumi Inc. who also makes extra money as a moneylender, was walking on her way home at past 8 p.m. in Barangay Sabang when a man held her up.
Investigation revealed showed that Albi just got off a motorcycle-for-hire after traveling from work when the man, who had apparently been waiting for her, pointed a gun at her when she was almost home.
In fear, the victim handed over her P200,000 cash. The robber left the place immediately.
Police believe that the robber had been monitoring Albi’s movements and knew she was lending money.
A few hours earlier, a woman was also robbed of her cash and jewelry by two men riding in tandem on a motorcycle in Barangay Poblacion of the same city.
The victim was identified as Amelita Nagsuban, 42, who owns a sari-sari store in San Francisco Island in Camotes.
Nagsuban, along with her daughter, just arrived at the port of Danao City to buy groceries wholesale in Cebu City, when two men on a black motorcycle approached her and declared a hold up.
The victim gave away her bag containing P17,000 cash, two cellular phones and Chinese gold earrings and necklace worth P80,500.
Police responded after the victim reported the incident, but they failed to locate the robbers who fled to an unknown direction right after robbing the victim. —BRP (FREEMAN)
