CEBU, Philippines - Three women and a foreigner were injured after the car they were riding fell down a cliff in Barangay Busay at 8 pm last Saturday.
Victims Raquel Yap, 50, Jocelyn Bohol, 25, Irene Huyo-a, 32, and
Irish-German national Robert Trinkle, 75, were on their way to eat at a restaurant in Busay when they met the accident.
SPO1 Felomino Dequiso of the Traffic Patrol Group narrated that Yap was driving a Nissan Pathfinder pickup (GEL 309) with the three as her passengers when a taxicab came approaching.
Sensing that it was difficult to pass the narrow road, Yap decided to stop and let the taxicab pass first.
However, the brake malfunctioned.
The pickup moved backwards as the area was elevated and hit a Isuzu Crosswind (FGY 230) before it fell into a two-meter deep cliff and turned turtle.
The Crosswind driver, Cristuta Ferdinand, 32, said that while tailing the pickup, she noticed that something was wrong with it.
“Nakabantay na man siya na nag-okon-okon ang pickup maong gipauna niya unya wa siya misunod dayon,†Dequiso said.
The Crosswind’s bumper was dented but Ferdinand is not interested to file charges.
Dequiso said the four victims survived with minor bruises in their body.
The Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) brought them to Chong Hua Hospital. (FREEMAN)
