Boy, 19, found hanging; tanod shot dead
CEBU, Philippines - A 19-year-old boy was found hanging from a tree in Western Poblacion, Poro at past 6 a.m. Saturday.
Jonathan Suerto asked permission to gather firewood Friday morning but he failed to return home until the following morning.
His family was surprised to see him hanging dead.
Police suspect it was a case of suicide and they are checking what pushed him to do it.
But Dr. Leah Nagsuban, the municipal health officer of Poro, will conduct an autopsy to determine if there was foul play on the victim’s death.
In Argao, a barangay tanod was shot dead late Saturday night.
Nicholas Plaza, 47, died of a gunshot wound in his chest.
Suspect Rosel Remoroza, 35, voluntarily surrendered to the police after the incident.
Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Remoroza went to Plaza’s house at around 11 p.m.
Plaza accommodated Remoroza but the latter suddenly shot the tanod in the chest at close range.
SPO1 Renato Nacaytona of Argao Police Station said Plaza and Remoroza did not have any argument although Remoroza finds Plaza “very arrogant.”
“Lagot ko anang tawhana, hambugero kaayo,” Remoroza said when asked by the police why he killed Plaza.
Nacaytona said Plaza looks like a toughie but was actually a good man.
Murder complaints will be filed against Remoroza who is detained at Argao police station stockade. —MBG (FREEMAN)
