CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia led the invasion of One Cebu candidates for 2013 elections in the hometown of Liberal Party’s standard bearer Hilario Davide III.
With Garcia were her brother, third district Rep. Pablo John Garcia, One Cebu’s gubernatorial bet, and runningmate Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV; re-electionist Deputy Speaker Pablo “Pabling” Garcia of the second district; former PB member Carmiano “Cary” Kintanar and Boljoon Mayor Teresita Celis, who are running for the provincial board.
The group first went to Barangay Jampang where Mayor Edsel Galeos and some town councilors themselves welcomed the One Cebu candidates. Galeos is running under Liberal Party.
Former PB Member Antonio Almirante, Jr.; barangay captain Danilo Remollino, barangay health workers, senior citizens, teachers, students and some residents were also present to meet with the governor and the candidates of One Cebu Party.
They inaugurated a two-classroom building worth P690,000 funded by the provincial government.
Gov. Garcia also distributed school supplies to students and teachers of Jampang Elementary School.
Remollino thanked Gov. Garcia for the projects implemented in his barangay such as the 3.5 kilometer asphalted road.
“Pasalamat ko karon pa natumban og gobernador ang Jampang Elementary School,” he said.
Galeos also thanked Garcia for other projects implemented in his town.
At the town proper, the group inaugurated public restrooms amounting to P600,000 at the Argao Natures Park followed by the launching of the Bugasan sa Kababayen-an program and formal turnover of tourist bus to Galeos.
Pablo John, in his speech, admitted being in an uphill situation in Argao considering that his opponent is from the town.
But his father, Pabling said otherwise saying that, “nagtoo ko nga ang mga Argawanon motan-aw kinsa ang makatabang nila.”
Pabling said that it seemed he was not in Argao when the group was warmly welcomed by the people considering their opponents are from the town.
Pabling’s opponent in the coming 2013 elections is PB Member Wilfredo Caminero who is also an Argawanon.
“Mohangyo ko sa taga Argao nga timbang-timbanga lang, ikomparar lang ang mga kandidato (I am requesting the people of Argao to weigh and compare the candidates),” Pablo John said.
He assured that he will continue what his sister. Gov. Garcia has done to the people of Argao and the entire Province of Cebu. (FREEMAN)
