MANILA, Philippines — Three suspects in the 2017 killing of a barangay kagawad or councilman in Caloocan City have turned themselves in to authorities.

Dennis Masambique, 55, and Michael Gundayao, 43, surrendered to Caloocan Rep. Oscar Malapitan on Tuesday.

Their cohort, Efren Loquinario, 48, surrendered through Sen. Raffy Tulfo’s radio show on March 24.

The suspects have pending arrest warrants for murder and frustrated murder issued by Judge Rodolfo Azucena Jr. of the Caloocan Regional Trial Court Branch 125.

They were accused of killing Barangay 174 councilor Eduardo Gundayao and wounding his daughter on Jan. 5, 2017.

Police said the victims were in a school service van when the motorcycle-riding suspects fired at them along Carnation street in Barangay 178.

According to Malapitan, Masambique and Gundayao claimed that they were innocent of the charges filed against them.

“I told them to prove themselves innocent in court,” Malapitan told The STAR.

Loquinario was arrested at the TV-5 studios in Mandaluyong and was turned over to the Caloocan police.

The suspects are being held at the Caloocan police detention facility.
