Cine Europa 2019 in Cebu

Cine Europa was back in Cebu recently, and this time the European Union held the free screenings in SM Cinema of SM City Cebu. The screenings took place last October 3 to 6 at SM Cinema 1.

This year’s Cine Europa, a film festival featuring European-produced storylines, screened films centered on friendship and humanity. The 22nd Cine Europa featured 12 movies selected by the EU embassies and cultural institutes in Manila that also reflect the bloc’s “growing cultural relationship with the Philippines because of the two countries’ shared values.”

This year’s films include “The King’s Choice,” “Drifters,” “Winter Brothers,” “Greetings from Fukushima,” “Being Leonardo Da Vinci: An Impossible Interview,” “Long Distance,” “Behind the Clouds,” “Happy New Year,” “The Marathon,” “The Tiger Theory,” “Tour de France,” and “Mary Shelley.”

Spanish Ambassador Jorge Moragas and EU First Counsellor Rafael Bustamante were happy to promote the foreign films to the Cebuano audience.

“It was a multinational expedition with sailors from almost all European countries – Spanish, German, Polish, French, Greek, and of course, Portuguese – that left Seville in Spain 500 years ago,” said Spanish Ambassador Moragas.
