God Has a Way of Changing Our Perspective

LIFE’S ESSENCE - The Freeman

I could not help but ponder when I came across this quote: “God has a way of changing our life; just because things look impossible now doesn’t mean it will look impossible forever.”

It reminded me of a friend who was in a dilemma with her finances. She had many bills to pay and her finances were draining. She spent sleepless nights worrying on how she would pay her unpaid bills.

One day she came across a message posted on Facebook: “God does not change; but our perspective can change through prayer.” She felt that this message was for her. She prayed fervently and asked for God’s help on her dilemma. As the days went by and the deadline for paying her bills came closer, she felt that her fears and anxiety slowly melted. She felt God’s assurance that everything will be taken care of, and that she should trust the Lord completely.

She realized that what is impossible to man is possible to God.  She found comfort on what Matthew 21:21-22 declares: “Jesus said, ‘Believe me, if you trust and do not falter and you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ even that will happen. You will receive all that you pray for, provided you have faith.’ ”

David Liessenfelt, of the www.abundantliving.org website, has this to say – “…The purpose of prayer is not necessarily to get a change in circumstances, but a change in perspective. Prayer is less about changing things and more about changing us. When we spend time in prayer, the number one thing that should be changing is us. By faith, we enter the presence of God when we pray. In His presence, we are changed by His indelible Spirit. Our faith in Him increases, our spiritual understanding increases and often the “problems” just don’t seem so big. As we spend time with God, we find rest from our trials.”

If you are overwhelmed with a present struggle, Liessenfelt shares these spiritual insights:

• When we put our faith in God to work out the difficult and stressful experiences in our lives, we can know that we will come out the other side successfully. It is this faith in God, to lay the problem in His hands, to trust His will in it, that makes us rest before Him. By resting in Him, our perspective changes and we are able to go through hardships more easily than we thought impossible.

• When God is on your side, nothing can resist you and the stressful and trying experiences stand as insignificant before His power. As Philippians 4:11-13 reminds us, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

• When you face hardships and you pray, God will answer you, although it may not always be what you want. But if you will remain faithful to God, knowing that He knows what is truly best for you and others, He will give you the strength that you need to endure through the trial.

• God loves us intensely. He knows all our trials and heartaches and He delivers us mightily through them all. Sometimes it is immediate and dramatic with healings, miracles, and prosperity. Other times we face the trial and God delivers us throug
