In keeping with the tradition of hosting its annual birthday bash for members of the local Lifestyle media, the Cebu City Marriott Hotel (CCMH) prepared a special treat for the palate and the senses in an intimate gather over scents and savories last September 7.
As guests entered the Gumamela function hall, a variety of relaxing aromas filled the air setting the mood for the morning. This year, Cebu Marriott invited friends from Savvy Oilistas, a group of wellness enthusiasts aptly named for their love for essential oils. Marketing Communications Officer Nico Velasquez opened the occasion by saying it was an opportunity for the team to show genuine care, by foregoing the big production numbers and performances and focusing on each one’s wellness. General Manager Patrick Caroll then gave a warm welcome, sharing his excitement to be a part of the experience with the group.
Savvy Oilista from Singapore Faith Teo then introduced the group and shared her personal experience with essential oils and how it has helped her regain and retain balance both at work and at home, using it for a variety of different reasons – from disinfecting her baby’s bottles, to freshening up her space, to drinking it for wellness, among others. It was then time to get to the oils and learn how to use them. Eloise Hernandez then took the floor explaining the importance of each oil: Lavender to calm and soothe; Peppermint for a quick perk-me-up, and instant rejuvenation; and the crowd favorite, Panaway, a mix of winter green, and other hot oils to soothe tired and aching muscles.
Soon enough, everyone was busy making their own concoctions, mixing the essential oils according to their need and preference and coming up with delightful names like Lavender Dreams, Sleep Cookie, and Pain Away.
Lunch was then served on a long beautifully decorated table with soft pastel blooms by Simple Wishes. Executive Chef Suaisom prepared a sumptuous spread starting with a smoked salmon in sweet corn pancake with dill and rocket oil, followed by a lemongrass prawn salad; then a warm bowl of roasted tomato soup with crispy thyme parmesan. Main course was seared salmon with lemon onion mushroom, green pea, fresh ginger and sesame dressing. Dessert didn’t disappoint with the delightful blend of flavors and textures of a pistachio and green tea cake with a side of fresh fruits. And to complete the birthday bash, each attendee was honored with a specially curated garden cake and their very own Young Living essential oils starter kit to continue their scents and essences wellness experience at home.
It truly was another unique experience shared with delightful company, echoing the Marriott brand of service excellence through brilliant hosting.
