Are you a worrywart?

Do you always worry?

Here’s  a story shared by Gina  Verdolaga of  “Didache, Daily Bible Reflections  For  Catholics, January – December 2015,” :

“Before , I would spend much time thinking and imagining about what could possibly go wrong in my career. When my job became too stressful, I worried how long I could stand it. Finally, enough was enough. It was time to make a change. I resigned and left the security of having a monthly income.

There were times I would stay awake until the wee hours, worrying about my future. That was until I discovered the power of surrender. I learned to let go and let God do the rest for me. Besides, happiness is not dependent on whether I live in a mansion or not.

With faith, I’m assured the Lord has my back. He provides me with my life’s direction.”

I am reminded of what an inspirational author once said, “There’s no need to keep on worrying about the future. The future will take care of itself. You will realize that what you worry about never come to reality. Why not focus on the present moment.”

Michael Feeley of “The Huffington Post website,” asks, “What do you get out of worrying? Does it make you happy or messed up? Does it make you feel free and relaxed or all tight and tense?

There’s an old English proverb my great aunt Betty used to say to me when I was a kid because she knew I worried a lot…about school and getting good grades, being liked, how I looked and what I’d do with my life, “Worrying is like sitting on a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you anywhere.”

Feeley said, “Here are five people who can help us all to change difficulties and paralyzing worry into calm and comfort, confidence and joy. Their words take the pain out of worry and describe a new way to think about worry. They assist us to actually see if our problems are real and fixable…that we all have the innate ability to create change and live life in a more positive, happy and healthy way:

* “Difficult  times  have  helped me to understand better   than before how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every  way and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever.” — Isak  Dinesen , Danish  author.

* “If something is wrong , fix it if you can. But train yourself not to worry. Worry never fixes anything.” – Hemingway , American writer.

* “Either you have control or you don’t.  If you don’t, don’t waste your energy on worry.” — Wayne Dyer, American philosopher and author.

     * “If a problem is fixable, if a situation is such that you can do something about, then there is no need to worry. If it’s not fixable, there is no help in worrying. There is no benefit in worrying whatsoever.” – Dalai Lama, Spiritual leader of the Tibetan people.

* “Why worry? If you’ve done the very best you can, worrying won’t make it better.” – Walt Disney, American Animator and entrepreneur.
