CEBU, Philippines - The “Way of the Cross” is unarguably a most important Lenten tradition of the Catholic faith. It is a simulation of the “Via Dolorosa,” the street within the old city of Jerusalem that traces the path believed to have been taken by Jesus on the way to his crucifixion on Calvary Hill.
The Catholic religious practice entails prayers and reflections through 14 ‘stations’ that depict Jesus’ sufferings towards his crucifixion and eventual death. Catholics in different parts of the world center their Holy Week prayers on the “Way of the Cross,” especially on Good Friday.
In keeping with the cherished Lenten tradition, ParkMall Cebu is hosting an interactive “Way of the Cross,” which takes after the traditional “Way of the Cross” by way of a series of activities that are intended for meditative reflections.
Dubbed “Pamalandong: Reflection Stations at the Park,” this Lenten activity takes place in the open-air grounds of ParkMall Cebu. It highlights activities intended for reflection, based on Jesus’ sufferings like in the traditional “Way of the Cross.”
The special Lenten venue opened with a mass and blessing last Friday, April 7. “Pamalandong: Reflection Stations at the Park” is open to the public until April 16. (YRST)
