CEBU, Philippines - The University of San Carlos and Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu scored two wins each to kick off the Cebu Youth Basketball League 2017 Season 10 at the SHS-Ateneo de Cebu Mango Avenue campus gym over the weekend.
In a Division 1 Under 16 games, USC North trounced USJR, 60-27, while SHS-Ateneo de Cebu cruised past One on One, 62-22. In Division 1 Under 13 games, USC North squeaked past USJ-R, 57-54 as SHS-Ateneo overcame a tough SACS/Lapu-lapu side, 29-17.
In the youngest age group, the Under 11 division, USJ-R got back at USC North via a 61-32 win, while UV won over One on One, 26-14.
The CYBL 2017, now on its 10th season, had its soft opening over the weekend. A total of 65 teams are competing in the tournament that features four age groups: Under 11, 13, 16 and 19.
Teams come from schools and ballclubs that also compete in tournaments of the CYBL, SBP 3X3 Pambansang Tatluhan, Batang PBA, BEST SBP Passerelle tournaments backed by Milo, and the CESAFI. The CYBL is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas-Region 7. (FREEMAN NEWS)
