The Nativity Art

CEBU, Philippines - There’s no question about Christmas being a season that brings out the arts – various forms of art. Christmas decorating alone already demands art ideas. And there’s all the art forms that make the season fun and beautiful.

Christmas music is distinct from the other types of music. The lightshow that runs throughout the season has become an art form in itself. Of course, what’s a Christmas celebration without special food? – hence, culinary arts.

Some groups of carolers do laid-out performances, incorporating music, dance, and drama into their act. Cinema will not be left out; there has been a good number of Christmas movies since, some of which are such big favorites that people watch them over and over.

Starting at the onset of the “-ber” months, Christmas already begin to surround. The music radio plays familiar Christmas tunes.  Michael Buble's Christmas album plays at shops and stores, too. “Love Actually” is shown again on TV.

On the matter of Christmas and art, the idea is no longer limited to the classical style. It has now taken on a modern and ‘pop’ approach, permeating the various industries that bubble up at Christmastime – entertainment, visual spectacles, gifts, and even fashion. Yet of all the arts that have something to do with the season, one Christmas art has stuck as the ultimate Christmas symbol – the Nativity. No, it’s not the Christmas tree, although the “tree” a very huge commercial success. (FREEMAN)
