CEBU, Philippines - After its successful first event last month, "Libreng Suroy sa Museo Sugbo" returns this Saturday, November 19, with storytelling, reading and art sessions for kids, guided tours all afternoon, film screenings and a #cebuLitFest spoken word workshop for all - and all for free! Spearheaded by the Cebu Provincial Government, Museo Sugbo, Cebu Provincial Tourism Office and the Cebu Literary Festival, "Libreng Suroy" aims to open the doors of the museum once a month to actively reach out to the community with interesting arts-and-culture events.
Pandoo Foundation is conducting the storytelling sessions scheduled for 2 p.m. at the temporary exhibit mezzanine space. Grade school kids from 6 to 9 years old are encouraged to join the sessions. They can also join in the art and coloring activities and browse through a selection of books at the reading station.
At 3 p.m., there is a screening and Q&A with Cebuana filmmaker Joanna Vasquez Arong and her award-winning documentary "The Old Fool Who Moved the Mountains" - a timeless story about the kind of modest eccentricity that can change the world through patience and diligence set.
Then at 4 p.m., Cebu Literary Festival holds a Spoken Word workshop for teens, as part of its efforts to promote poetry and literature in Cebu. Admission and the activities are for free for all registrants or one may just show up on the day itself! More information is found in the Facebook pages of Cebu Literary Festival and Museo Sugbo.
