Comfortable, conducive study lounge

Cherrie Mae Uy - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Whether students or professors or other professionals or just about anyone, perhaps everyone needs a people place to go to at one time or another. To some, it’s an escape venue from the hustle and bustle of life. To others, it’s a hallowed sanctuary to think important matters over.

Students and teachers, especially, need such place for peaceful study, without distraction from the usual ambient ‘noise’ of life. They need to be able to focus their mind without having to struggle, where they can be relaxed and comfortable. Now, there is such a place.

A new study lounge has opened at the 2ndlevel of the Balay Alumni Building at Southwestern University-Phinma along Urgello Street. Called in.dus.tri.Room, the space is intended for the very purpose of providing  a cool, quiet venue for students and professionals to study or to hatch profound ideas.

The comfortable lounge is open 24/7 and can accommodate a good number of people. It has a function room for small groups of eight to 15 persons, with a ready projector and LCD TV.  Mac computers are provided for free use, and students who bring their personal laptops, iPads or tablets may enjoy free Wi-fi.

Another highlight of the lounge is its offer of Indoor Cycling for those who want to do some cardio exercise. And finger foods are allowed inside. Patrons, though, are required to clean as they go and keeping their voices low while in the lounge.

As an opening promo, students may avail of all amenities – including Wi-Fi and gadgets, and overflowing coffee – for a minimal hourly fee. Plus – an hour free for every four hours of paid stay.
