CEBU, Philippines – A homegrown taxi hailing mobile app and service has recently rolled out an iOS version of the suite - broadening its reach in offering its services to Cebuano smart device owners.
During a press conference on Wednesday last week, the youthful developers of MiCab also shared that an app for Windows Phone is currently on the works, slated for release late this year. Both the iOS and upcoming Windows Phone versions mirror the functions and features of MiCab for Android.
Apart from announcing its new for-iOS version during the press conference, the company also revealed it will be operating on a new business model - one that entails advertisements to be flashed on LED sign-boards placed on top of taxi cabs and in tablets installed inside. This new business model aims to lessen the service's on-top-of-the-meter fees, without compromising the funding that's required for its seamless operations.
MiCab's developers also shared that they are currently fine-tuning the service's SMS-based taxi hailing functions - an offline-based service that's expected to go full swing in three months' time. It also has plans of rolling out an incentive-promotion to customers dubbed as "MiCab Money" within the third quarter of the year.
Launched in 2012, MiCab is a pioneering taxi hailing app-and-service in Cebu, one which currently holds partnerships with two of the metro's leading taxi operators. The service has a basic P10 on-top-of-the-meter fee, and regularly hosts seasonal promotions and points-and-rewards-themed offerings. More information on MiCab is available on micab.co.
