Earth Hour 2015.

This year's Earth Hour is observed tonight, from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Participants are to shut off lights for an hour in support of international efforts to address climate change.

Mactan Cebu International Airport joins the observance. Airport operator GMR Megawide Cebu Airport Corporation (GMCAC) will shut off non-essential lighting, including air- and landside neon signages and airconditioning. Lighting at arrival areas will also be reduced.  GMCAC concessionaires and merchants have also been told to participate in the lights-off activity. According to GMCAC Head of Corporate Affairs Estee Marie Patiño-Plunket, the company's participation in Earth Hour 2015 is a demonstration of their concern over climate change and part of efforts towards power-conservation, as well as environmental preservation and rehabilitation.

Earth Hour started in Sydney, Australia, in 2007, to call attention to the need for reduced greenhouse gases, the primary cause of global warming and ultimately, climate change.
