"Frankly Speaking" in Cebu

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO - The Freeman

It was an evening of flair beyond compare at Ayala Center Cebu when the "Frankly Speaking" jazz musical, inspired by Frank Sinatra's eternal hits, came to town featuring international tap dance artist Omar Edwards and the STEPS Dance Project. Cebu personalities flocked the mall's Activity Center during the first gala performance of the two-day event to witness the dazzling performance of world-class talents.

Special celebrity guest Xian Lim graced the night and serenaded guests with Sinatra's hits such as "Under My Skin" much to the delight of the audience, while dancers from the STEPS were graceful and entertaining as they seamlessly weaved stories through the art of dance. The charming Omar Edwards was a sight to behold with shoes and a smile that lit up the room. His flawless, awe-inspiring performances included tap dancing to both classic and modern hits such as Pharell's "Happy." A spectacular performance featuring the whole cast highlighted further by bursts of snow-white confetti concluded the night.

"Frankly Speaking" was directed by James Lafoteza and choreographed by Jeffery Espejo. Steps Dance Studio is one of the most innovative and creative dance studios in the country. Its ballet program follows the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. Founded in 1944 by Sofia Zobel Elizalde, who also serves as Step's managing director. Steps Dance Studio is among the Philippines' most comprehensive dance schools, which aims to be the best and most versatile dance establishment in the Philippines.
