Dinner Cultural Show for Filipino-Canadian Visitors

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor Ynclino - The Freeman

The group, led by Philippine Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Petronila Garcia, the 200 (Snowbirds) visitors taking the five tourist buses, toured the many tourist spots in Cebu. They all arrived at the White Gold House at about 7:30 p.m. Before dinner was served, coordinator and host for the evening's program Dr. Mila Espina called on the USJR, ALLEF-TA to sing the welcome-song - "Mabuhi (Long Live)"; then Ambassador Benedicto gave the welcome address. This was followed with another "Welcome to Cebu" remarks by super-energetic Mayor Michael Rama who, as an added fillip, rendered two favorite songs "The Way You Look Tonight" and "Kahit Isang Saglit" which brought the house down.

As everyone knows, ever since he was with the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Frank Benedicto has always been so hospitable and generous with his time and financial support to those who truly need his help. Reason, that when he was in Ottawa, he was well-loved by his peers.

The dinner honoring the Fil-Canadian "Snowbirds" ended with the visitors joining the USJR Dance Troupe in dancing the Sinulog. And they all enjoyed the evening's soiree!
