CEBU, Philippines – KidStuff of The Freeman Lifestyle Sunday has recently been boosted with new regular features, namely “Quiet Time with Mateo” and “Winning Habits.” Both are very useful aids in the values formation of growing children.
“Quiet Time with Mateo” is a series of anecdotes imbued with insights for character building. It is a serialization of the book of the same title by award-winning author Grace Chong, who also writes a regular column in KidStuff – titled “Big Little People” – on designated Sundays. Many of Chong’s stories have won Palanca Awards, like “The Boy Who Had Five Lolas,” “The Magic of Apo Mayor,” “Big Brother,” “No Lipstick for Mother,” “I Am an Apple,” and “The White Shoes.” Her book “Grace found Me” (One Year Devotional for Busy Women) has won in the Gintong Aklat Awards 2012, Inspirational Book Category.
“Winning Habits” is a collection of practical tips and instructions that are most useful in the everyday life of children. It is a transcription of the instructional audio-book titled, “Everyday Wisdom,” which was a bestseller in the late 90s. The audio-book was even used by pregnant women as pre-natal therapy, playing the tape on their tummy for the baby inside to hear. While the original tape had music background that helped in the absorption and retention of the spoken teachings, the teachings itself could stand on its own. Thus, the printed form is deemed to be just as effective with children, especially with guidance by adults.
Both new KidStuff features use a simple language and situations that young children can easily understand and relate with. KidStuff is a regular sub-section of The Freeman Lifestyle every Sunday.
