CEBU, Philippines - The latest crop of Cebu's teenage personalities modeled the urban-inspired creations of designers Bree Esplanada, Exur Lopena and Mike Yapching on Thursday, July 24, in this year's iteration of the annuall anticipated "Glitterati" fashion show series.
Taking place at the NorthWing Atrium of SM City Cebu, the "Glitterati 4: Designer Denim" fashion show was the first of the series to showcase the creations of select fashion designers - apart from having budding local personalities share the runway with the metro's favorite models.
Collectively, the pieces presented during the show nodded to the aesthetic ideals of simple-but-provocatively unflustered designs - predominantly toned by soft shades of amethyst, powdered neutrals and darkly romantic grays.
Bree Esplanada's presented pieces were essentially anchored on the style aesthetics of urban punk and grunge - adhering to the cuts and sheens that yield to a casual-yet-refined chic.
Exur Lopena's presented pieces took an outstanding approach in streamlined cuts and form - working with voluminous-but-muted tones that make fabrics often associated with "frumpy" fail in falling into their pedantic pitfalls.
Mike Yapching's presented pieces easily bore a minimalist quality that is neither subvert nor overbearing - cinching tops and bottoms with curves and cuts that are, by themselves, distinct.
Now on its fourth year, this year's Glitterati also featured the latest denim collections showcased by Cebu's well-loved brands - where the ruggedly elegant textures and tones of denim are daubed with striking patters; from vivid argyles to parallel shapes molded by cuts, seams and tailoring lines.
"Glitterati 4: Designer Denim," a tradition at SM City Cebu, easily stands out as one of Cebu's notable fashion shows this year. (FREEMAN)
