The Freeman at 95!

The Freeman is turning 95! OMG! Gone are the days when other papers would claim they are the oldest in Cebu. Now we can proudly and evidently say that The Freeman is the much stronger one and the oldest living newspaper in the country today.

I remember vividly in my memory in the early eighties or thirty years ago, our beloved chairman Dr. Jose "Dodong" R. Gullas had a little problem when seven of the trusted men in the community paper broke loose. I would have been one of them, but Dodong… ever the low-toned Dodong, called me at my office and asked me to stay. Plus the "hangyo" of his beloved Mother, Inday Pining, who too asked me not to join the group; and fervent request of my dear hubby to stay for the sake of our long friendship with Dodong.

We had passed so many obstacles on the way, but because of his strong propensity to propel the newspaper, we thank our beloved Dodong for steering The Freeman to what it is today.

Congratulations to our dear Chairman Dodong, good luck, more power and God bless you always. PTL!
