Aging Gracefully The Feng Shui Way

Sau is the Chinese symbol of longevity or good health. He is one of the Fu, Luk, Sau (Good Luck, Happiness, Long Life) decor figurines that adorn most Oriental dining rooms, in order to remind one, while eating, of his or her three basic purposes in life.

Among these three basic purposes, good health or long life as embodied by Sau’s bald pomelo-shaped head is humankind’s greatest responsibility.  It entails self-knowledge and balancing of one’s life energies or “chi” while alive, while preparing too for an eternal burial ground for the body that will echo one’s legacy of virtuous life energies to descendants for generations to come. In this context, long life includes immortality of one’s thoughts, words and deeds to echo through eternity for so long as the burial site is well maintained according to feng shui precepts!

But the whole theme of achieving good health in feng shui, leading to long life, is about homeostasis, as science would have it, or a well adjusted physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing in any given environment. And its simplest observance is to eat only when hungry, drink only when thirsty!

However, what you eat and in what amount is the real discipline. It’s the same with drinking. Food in this regard comes in multifarious definitions. Food for the body as nutrients. Food for each cell as energy. Food for the mind as education. Food for the soul with meditation. (Even money is food for the soul, mind you!)

Drink plenty of water, as water comprises 77 percent of the human brain, and majority of the human body, too. And what is the whole concept of good health in feng shui? It is growing and aging gracefully!

So by all means, this end must be pursued; so long as you do not steal for your food and drinks – especially from the national coffers. Good health in feng shui espouses the positive goodness of heart and mind too.

Those who live to be over a hundred years old have simple health habits. Simple health habits like everyday socialization with good folks, taking a simple good walk visiting friends, and even enjoying a small bottle of beer in a happy hour.

No need for complicated diets, just let nature flow and allow natural life energies to flow in your body purposely. Good advice? The answer is in your hands.

Let the good life flow! Cheers to everyone’s good health and long life!
