“Summer Solstice”

CEBU, Philippines - The Fashion Council of Cebu (FCC) unveiled its Spring/Summer Collection in a fashion show dubbed "Summer Solstice," held at The Gallery of the Ayala Center Cebu's new expansion, on April 11. Expectedly, the pieces anchored their aesthetics on the mainstay markers of sharp tailoring, bold confidence and sensual femininity.

The show featured the latest creations of designers Albert Arriba, Edwin Ao, Jun Escario, Arcy Gayatin, Oj Hofer, Yvonne Quisumbing, Ditas Rodriguez, Philip Rodriguez, Cary Santiago and Philipp Tampus. The collection's core nuances went beyond the sporty dresses, cropped-above-the-ankle-cut pants and mosaic-print minis that are often associated with summer - putting the spotlight on see-through sheers, racerback-inspired cuts, fluid-flowing fabrics and livid-with-life tones.

Collectively, the dynamic pieces showcased in the show brought together an ideal combination of boldness and fragility - steered by the aesthetic elements of draping, patterns, volume and cut-outs; punctuated by the well-curated utilization of embellishments, prints and intricate embroideries.

“Summer Solstice” effectively showed how summer dressing is shaping up for this year. It was a collaborative project between FCC and the Ayala Center Cebu. (FREEMAN)
