Furry Superstars

Kuya Ramon - The Freeman

It's no secret that pets are interesting members of the household, at times even more interesting than people.

As such, the world has seen its share of furry superstar celebrities, like the four we are featuring here.

Hachiko

While it is true that dogs are loyal and obedient to their masters, the Akita known as Hachiko is often argued to be the most loyal dog ever known to be.

Hachiko's story began with a simple daily "routine", one where he would wait for his master—Hidesaburo Ueno—to come home from work at the Shibuya Station in Japan.

One day in 1925, his master suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage, leading to his untimely demise.

Hachiko, however, still continued to wait for his master to come home from work everyday—for NINE YEARS!

Hachiko's story is so inspiring—egendary, even—that it has been the subject of different books and movies, including a full-length feature that stars actor Richard Gere.

Colonel Meow

Colonel Meow is not only a furry superstar but also a Guinness World Record holder for having the Longest Cat Hair.

A Himalayan-Persian mix, Colonel Meow lives in Los Angeles with Avey and Eric Rosario, with his hair strands measuring an average of nine inches long.

Because of his long hair, Colonel Meow needs to be regularly brushed at least three times a week. It is said that because of his long hair, two people are needed to properly brush Colonel Meow's coat.

Colonel Meow is so popular that he has his own Facebook page, YouTube Channel and his own Tumblr site.

Maru

(also known as Maru the Box Cat)

Born sometime in May 2007, Maru is a male Scottish Fold cat from Japan.

His love for boxes—big and small—made him an instant YouTube celebrity, with his YouTube videos viewed more than 200 million times.

In most of his videos, Maru is often seen playing with cardboard boxes of different shapes and sizes, trying his best to fit in them—especially the small ones!

Maru is so popular that in 2009, a book and DVD entitled "I Am Maru" was released in Japan. Another DVD entitled "Maru Desu" was released a year after, and another book featuring Maru was also released in 2011.

"Grumpy Cat"

"Grumpy Cat" was born sometime in April 2012. As an internet celebrity, she is famous for her grumpy facial expression.

Though popularly known as "Grumpy Cat", her real name is actually Tardar Sauce.

Tabatha Burndesen, her owner, is noted to have said that her perpetually grumpy expression is due to a condition known as feline dwarfism.

"Grumpy Cat" is so popular that her Facebook page has more than 1.3 million Likes.

Her picture has also been featured in different publications, like the cover of the New York Magazine and the front page of The Wall Street Journal.
