Courage Makes a Difference

CEBU, Philippines - Once there was an eight-year-old boy who lived in a barrio near the sea. He was an orphan who lost his parents to a huge wave that washed away his home. He was the only one who survived. From then on, he always went to the sea. It is where he learned how to fish.

One day, he noticed that the sea was sort of rumbling. Then, the water was pulled back. He remembered what happened to his parents. "Oh, no! I should warn the people that there will be a tidal wave!" he said to himself. Suddenly, nine kilometers away, a huge wave came. He ran towards a boy playing with his toys near the sea and carried him, got the ropes and handed them to the people. The people wondered why he did such a thing. "A huge wave is coming. Use the rope to climb the cliff!" he explained.

When they were at the top of the cliff, the wave hit and crashed one side of the cliff but everyone was safe. The people were happy because the boy saved them.

Because of the boy's heroism, they gave him all the villagers' riches but the boy only wanted what was enough for him. When his uncle from Manila knew his heroism, he took him and brought him to Manila. Now, the boy is already 26 years old and works as a manager in a famous established restaurant.
