CEBU, Philippines - Attention animal lovers: you are invited to an exclusive pet "pawty" featuring some of your most favorite two-and four-legged companions! For all fans of the cute and cuddly, Animal Planet presents PET WEEK, a five-day special that pays homage to men's greatest and most loyal chums and confidantes. The pet love fest airs back-to-back for two hours is running from 9:00 p.m., with the premiere of two spanking fresh series, 20-part SUPERFETCH and six-part WORLD'S CUTEST at 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., respectively.
Who said you cannot teach old dogs new tricks? SUPERFETCH's host, dog trainer and YouTube sensation Zak George proves otherwise. Zak and his border collie Venus have become one of the most in-demand training duos in the world, winning many dog-trick competitions along the way. With his help, your fluffy friend will truly live up to their title of "man's best friend". Too lazy to take out the trash? Need some help finding the television remote orgettingor getting a date? Want a pal to play video games with? Cannot get your spouse to put down the toilet seat?Notseat? Not to worry, your furry pal will have you covered! Through easy step-by-step demonstrations, Zak believes he can teach anyone to transform their ordinary dog into a trick performing stunt jockey.
Central to Zak's training philosophy is that the process must be totally enjoyable for the animal, as well as strengthen the bond between people and their pets. By finding out what "currency" - such as food or play - motivates a pet, how the pet and their parents communicate and what the animal's aptitude is for learning new skills, Zak designs a custom plan that will get each pet/parent pair to the finish line. Each team has one shot to make it happen, and at the end of several weeks of intensive at-home training with Zak, the duo is put to the test to see if they can pull off the big trick. SUPERFETCH encores every Thursday at 9:00 a.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Then it is playful pooches and cuddly kitties galore, as some of the funniest, grumpiest, wackiest and most adorable canines and felines take center stage in the premiere of WORLD'S CUTEST. We count down some of the cutest clips in the web-o-sphere that are sure to leave you smiling from ear-to-ear and make you go "awww"; meet clowders and kennels of these excruciatingly endearing mates including talking kitties, slumbering cats, dancing dogs and pups that doze. WORLD'S CUTEST encores every Thursday at 10:00 a.m. (1000 hrs) and Sunday at 6:00 p.m.
Besides the friendly fur balls that love to fraternise, PET WEEK will also shine the spotlight on some rather unusual pets. Meet Zimbabwean safari park owners Judy and John Travers' orphaned herd of a half-tonne hippo, a tiny warthog and a hyper hyena in THERE'S A RHINO IN MY HOUSE as well as Jouberts, Tonie and Shirley from South Africa who are bringing up a one-tonne hippopotamus as their "daughter" in the heartwarming story JESSICA THE HIPPO. Not forgetting geckos, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, penguins, mini pigs that play the piano and a lip-locking boxer-parrot couple! It is going to be a furr-ific week of family-friendly fun with Animal Planet this November! (FREEMAN)
