KIDS’ SPA: Kids need some pampering, too!

Annie Fe Perez - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  The Little Lamb's Kiddie Spa is Cebu's first kiddie spa that caters to infants less than a month old and kids below 19.

They have two foot spa seats, four massage beds and a salon area. Four massage therapists who were trained by famous medical couple Drs. Carl and Roselyne Balita are ready to assist young ones in their spa sessions.

They offer Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Foot Massage, Body Scrub, as well as haircut, manicure and pedicure.  There is also an infant therapeutic massage.

Touch therapy is the highlight of this spa's massage services. They do not press to the bones but just on the muscles so the kid won't feel any pain. Touch therapy is also for stimulation, growth and healing.

"Touch therapy is a big help to children who are exposed to gadgets and stress," says Larry Diola of Little Lamb's Manila. Yvette Yntig, who operates the Cebu branch said that touch therapy is known to nourish the emotional quotient of the child. "You cannot develop your child's intelligence without focusing on its emotional quotient first," Yntig said.

Little Lamb's Kiddie Spa is loacated at Blessed Trinity Achievers' Academy, M. Gotianuy St., General Maxilom Ave., near Redemptorist church.

Discovery kids asia greenlights Robert Irwin's international television debut

Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP) recently announced that it has greenlit a new kids' edutainment series titled Wild But True , which will feature Robert Irwin, nine-year-old son of the original crocodile hunter Steve Irwin, in his first international television premiere.

Robert will be joined by co-host Shania Bhopa, a 15-year-old student from Toronto, Canada. The 13-partseries is a DNAP co-production with Toronto-based CCI Entertainment Ltd. It is scheduled to premiere in the third quarter of 2014 on Discovery Kids across Asia.

Targeting school-age kids between 6 and 12, Wild But True explores the fun of biomimicry – an exciting branch of science that studies nature's most clever inventions and then imitates these designs and processes to solve human problems. Wild But True  explores thought-provoking questions such as: How did the kingfisher inspire Japan's bullet train? What can a termite mound show us about cooling our towering skyscrapers?  Can the humble butterfly help us make better smartphones?

In Wild But True , Robert and Shania lead the exploration on how billions of years of knowledge from nature and wildlife is making life better for us humans. Robert will tap into his vast knowledge and passion for wildlife and nature, whilst Shania brings to the show her passion for science. Together, they will present stories and fun facts that show how science has made our human world a true student of Mother Nature.
