In celebration of our beloved country’s 115th year of national independence, Café Marco of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu whipped up a selection of Cebuanos’ favorite (Filipino) dishes with Spanish influence… dishes reminiscent of the ones our grandparents used to prepare during family gatherings, of yore.
Upon the guidance of consultant and culinary guru Ms. Jessica Avila and prepared by the hotel’s chefs were: Arroz Valenciana, Pata Humba (favorite of our food columnist Dr. Nestor Alonso II), Mechado, Adobo de Carajay, Bangus Salad with Kesong Puti, Inun-unan, Morcon, Chicken Emotido, Die-for-desserts, and a lot, lot more…perfected through recipes passed on from generation to generation.
With the use of social media, Cebuanos who love to eat good food, trooped to Café Marco, especially since Cocina del Siglo started June 7 and ran through the 16th. For 10 days nightly, Café Marco was filled with diners.
And on opening day, since requested attire was Filipiniana, practically all invited were dressed as requested. Winners for the best-dressed guests were: Chinggay Utzurrum, Patty Taboada, Justine Lou Go and Chennie Montero. They all got an overnight stay at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. Congrats, girls!
