Meeting old friends

Frunie Alerre Hughet was in Cebu for more than a month visiting her daughter Evita Sagardui Ngo and her son Bogs, as well as meeting old friends and relatives. Frunie, in her younger days, was popularly known as the “song bird of Cebu”. She had a beautiful voice and during those days, she would play as guest in some movies (Visayan) and big programs.

Before she left for her home in Indianapolis, she invited friends to a hearty lauriat lunch at Ching Palace. Her brother, lawyer Al Alerre and his daughter Shyn were also present. Also dear friends lawyer Eddie Rosello and wife Vicky were there, too. Good friends from USC days, Dolly Suzara and Edith Lee joined the luncheon gathering. But we missed Luz Mancao Sandiego who was indisposed.

Former officers and members of the defunct Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines Cebu met over lunch at the Quest Hotel. Reason for the meeting was to say hello to each other after so many years of not seeing or hearing from one another. Norma Borromeo who organized the luncheon meeting promised to call the girls again, probably next month, to mop out plans for the organizational meeting.

One of those who attended the meeting was Elaine Tan, now a permanent resident of Seattle, Washington State. She used to teach at UC while still in Cebu but now she’s working as an office girl in Seattle, USA.

We met a nice couple from Australia, Lance Baker and his wife Lillibeth. The couple have two children and are in fact, studying in Girlie de Guia’s Royal Oaks in Mandaue City. One thing we admire about this couple, they love to invest in Cebu!
