CEBU, Philippines - Some people end the year retreating to iconic itineraries to reflect on what transpired in their lives over the past year. Others wish to end it in the company of a few friends and some family members over a nice jamon de bola dinner and maybe a bottle of sparkling champagne or two. However, the homecoming batch of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Class of '87 is on a mission to end the year fashionably with a fab fashion show featuring the collections of SHS-AdC alumni who have rocked fashion world.
The date is December 29 – just roughly a couple of days before we envelop 2013 in a tight welcome embrace. Alumni celebs and local stars like Slater Young, Kris Janson, Bee Urgello, FHM's sexiest woman for 2011 and 2012, Sam Pinto, the Mocha Girls, and a bevy of Brazilian beauties will be rocking the designs of Philip Rodriguez, Peewee Senining, Dino Lloren, Ivan Belocura, and Humberto Villegas at the Oakridge Pavilion.
Here's an exclusive scoop on some of Cebu's favorite featured designers for this hip and happening home coming celeb:
Philip Rodriguez
SHSJ-AdC Batch: 1973
Theme: Filipino Luxe
Key Fabrics: "I'm using tulle, piña, gazar, and organdy, fabrics that are luxurious but light. These fabrics have a sense of refinement to them, but they also hint of sensuality- both for the viewer and the wearer."
Fool-Proof Holiday Reco: Tis the season for dressing up so Philip highly recommends going for festive, holiday colors and channeling an ultra luxe vibe.
Peewee Senining
SHSJ-AdC Batch: 1989
Theme: Impressionist brush-strokes, tropical island vegetation mise-en-scene, indigenous prints (batik/ikat)
Key Fabrics: "The first half of the collection uses chiffon and jersey. I used bondage-type stretch materials to hug the bodice with a flowing skirt to reveal the legs. I imagine my muses lounging on a yacht. The latter half uses Ikat prints in cotton, accented with chiffon. I love working with chiffon because I like the sight of it taking flight against the wind."
Fool-Proof Holiday Reco: Since people rock all shapes and sizes, he recommends that the best holiday getup is the style you are most comfortable and happy in.
Dino Lloren
SHSJ-AdC Batch: 1991
Theme: Understated elegance
Key Fabrics: Chiffon & Jersey
Fool-Proof Holiday Reco: "For men, a classic, crisp, white long-sleeved shirt. For women, an LBD- not a little black dress, but a little beige dress, a neutral-colored dress, which you can dress up or down."
Ivan Belocura
SHSJ-AdC Batch: 1992
Theme: Ballerina Luxe inspired from the ballerina painting by Guan Zeju
Key Fabrics: Tulle and tulle lace
Fool-Proof Holiday Reco: "For women, a no-fail outfit would be a simple dress either in basic black or in a primary color (I like red ). Some bling or some killer shoes would pull the look together. For the men, a pair of well-fitted pants and a printed shirt under a gunmetal-colored sports jacket, perhaps."
Rey Humberto Villegas
SHSJ-AdC Batch: 2000
Theme: Experimental, inspired from the Go Green Movement
Key Fabrics: "Most of the materials I use are scraps of fabric pieced together to form a unique pattern."
Fool-Proof Holiday Reco: With Christmas teeming with undeniable holiday cheer, Rey highly recommends keeping the somber tones locked up in the closet for a while and donning bright cheery hues instead. (FREEMAN)
