G Fest 2024 holds successful second leg in Iloilo

The Freeman

Whenever the P-pop girl group KAIA is asked where they’d love to perform again, their answer is always Cebu. Two years ago, they were special guests for SB19’s Cebu leg of the “WYAT Tour,” and had their own mall show at SM Seaside City.

Ilonggos had a blast as the second stop of this year’s G FEST was brought to Iloilo City after its star-studded first leg in Luzon. A highlight of G DAY, the event is an annual celebration of Globe designed to connect with customers through curated experiences and exclusive rewards.

Fusing music and creative activities to “inspire courage, unleash self-expression, and foster community engagement”, the event treated music-Iovers to workshops, performances, and artsy booths.

The Iloilo Convention Center was abuzz with excitement last October 5 as music talents O SIDE MAFIA, Illest Morena, I Belong to the Zoo, DEMI, and dwta took to the main stage with performances that had the relatively young crowd singing along to their hits.

Before the concert, street fashion and hip-hop culture was spotlighted through a workshop by Iloilo’s homegrown brand Illcity Clothing, where attendees were oriented on the impact and relevance of street culture to the Ilonggo community.

Bianca Wong, Globe’s Vice President of the Feel Valued Tribe, had shared of their excitement to “bring G FEST to life, giving young Filipinos space where their passions can thrive. This event is a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and courage, and we can’t wait to see how it will inspire and empower the next generation to break boundaries and pursue their dreams with confidence.”

The three-city event began on September 22 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, headlined by the nation’s girl group BINI, along with Denise Julia, Jason Dhakal, SunKissed Lola, and ASTER on the Courage Stage. Here, Patrons of the Arts curated a showcase of artist merchants for the crowd to peruse over.

In the first leg, participants were also treated to “Go Lang Nang Go” workshops where industry veterans taught lessons on performance art. Singer-songwriters Julia and Dhakal talked about “How to Be a Pop Star,” while BINI Coaches Mickey Perz, Reden Blanquera, and Matthew Almodovar took charge of the Dance Like BINI session, teaching fans the dance steps of their latest chart-topper “Cherry On Top.”

After Iloilo, G Fest 2024 will head next to SMX Convention Center in Davao City this November 16.
