CEBU, Philippines — Since joining “The Voice Teens” in 2017, Jeremy Glinoga aka Jeremy G has not only been a singer, but also a host and an actor. He released his debut EP “maybe forever” in 2022, made his acting debut as main cast of the iWantTFC series “Lyric and Beat”, and is currently hosting “Pak na Pak! Palong Follow” on the PIE Channel.

When asked by The FREEMAN during a virtual press conference which among the three he likes doing the most, the 23-year-old said, “Singing and songwriting are definitely number one, second is hosting, and third is acting.”

Describing his career so far as a rollercoaster, Jeremy shared, “If you told me two years ago that I would be writing my own music and completing an album, and that I would be recording for various artists like BINI and BGYO, I wouldn’t believe it.”

“With the help of Star Music and the guidance of Jonathan Manalo and Rox Santos, I am so thankful. It’s overwhelming in a good way because I never thought I would explore this aspect of music. I thought I would just sing the songs that people gave me. Instead, I’m writing the songs that I am going to be singing and I am also starting to write for other artists, so it’s a great experience.”

Last March 24, Jeremy released his latest single “BINI”, which he co-wrote with ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo and Star Pop label head Rox Santos.

“It’s about that one dream girl that you think is so beautiful, you get so shy to approach her. Instead of talking to her face to face, you decide to put this into song because maybe that’s how you can express your appreciation for that person,” he said of the dance-pop track that follows his break-up song “Sinayang Mo.”

He wrote and recorded “BINI” in 2022 during a random session with Manalo and Santos. “Whenever I have free time, I just go to the studio and we just see what kind of song comes out of it. One day, I went to the studio and we were thinking about our next album and this is one of the songs that we wanted to make,” he recalled.

“We thought, we needed something that is not too general, something more specific and unique because there are so many love songs and we wanted to make it stand out.”

Jeremy played coy when pressed on who the subject of the song is. “There is a person that I wrote this to. If that person would want to know if it’s about her, I would gladly tell her. But I would like to keep it between me and her,” he shared.

One of the names brought up was his PIE Channel co-host Vivoree, their team-up having earned them “shippers” who call thesmelves “JereVi”. Despite their chemistry, he was surprised when the name of his colleague was brought up.

“It shocked me and Vivoree because we have a live audience every Friday and one time, there were JereVi shippers who brought food and everything. We just love our fans and the support that has been given to us, not just me and Vivoree but the show as well.”

“We are friends and I love working with her because she is so easy to work with. She’s very caring even off-cam. It’s so nice that I get to work with her almost every day.”

Another name that cropped up was Sheena from P-Pop girl group BINI, which also surprised Jeremy. “I guess it’s because of the ‘S’ that came in the outline of the cover art,” he noted, although Aiah, BINI’s Cebuana member, would turn out to be his co-star in the music video for “BINI’.

Whoever she may be, Jeremy said he wouldn’t mind if that person ended up with someone else as he just wanted to write about how he felt.

“Life doesn’t always go as expected and that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with it and it’s something we have to face. As an artist, I’m going to draw inspiration from specific or general things in my life and this is something that I drew inspiration from. If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work out,” he said.

Jeremy was first known in his stint on “The Voice Teens Philippines Season 1” where he became a grand finalist under Sharon Cuneta’s team. He released his first single “Sa’Yo” in 2019, which was hailed as the Best R&B recording at the 33rd Awit Awards. He also collaborated with Kyle Echarri for their song “Kahit Na Masungit,” which won 2nd Best Song at the 11th edition of Himig Handog.

Last year, he ventured into both music and acting projects. He released 13 singles including his debut EP “maybe forever,” wrote several compositions for series soundtracks and the song “My Time” for the “Idol Philippines” season 2 champion. He also starred as Stevie in “Lyric and Beat” where he composed the theme song with Manalo.
