A brand-new love team is set to deliver kilig and laughs in an upcoming online series. Herlene Budol and her leading man Joseph Marco star in “Ang Babae sa Likod ng Face Mask,” a 13-episode romantic comedy series conceptualized with Puregold, produced by award-winning filmmaker Chris Cahilig, and directed by critically-acclaimed director Victor Villanueva.

Popularly known as “Hipon Girl,” Herlene’s wit and charm makes her the ideal leading lady for this hilarious and heartwarming new show. Playing opposite her in her first ever leading role is heartthrob Joseph Marco, known for his television dramas “Sabel,” “Honesto,” “Pasion de Amor,” and “Wildflower.”

“This is an exciting opportunity that Puregold gave me,” says Herlene.”I want to show my followers and Hiponatic supporters my mettle as a leading lady.”

At the same time Herlene proudly addresses her co-star and what he brings to the table as well. “I am lucky that I have Joseph as partner in this show. I want to work with the best and I am very happy when I learned he was my leading man.”

“Ang exciting talaga,” says Marco of his role. “I’m super honored that Puregold chose me to be the leading man for the show. It’s been an absolute joy working with Herlene, and I think viewers will be able to feel how much fun we had working together through the screen.”

“Ang Babae sa Likod ng Face Mask” tells the story of Malta, played by Herlene, a 25-year-old cashier. Malta works hard to support her mother, Madam Baby, portrayed by seasoned actress Mickey Ferriols.

One day at work, Malta meets the handsome but unlucky in love Sieg, played by Joseph. It’s love at first sight for Sieg, who is mesmerized by Malta’s eyes. What unfolds is the story of how Malta and Sieg find love and overcome their doubts and insecurities, and break the negative cycles of their past.

“Ang classic ng kwento,” says Budol. “Nakakakilig, nakakatawa, lahat ng gusto mo sa isang series, meron kami rito.”

“Ang Babae…” is the latest in Puregold’s online series that take inspiration from classic Filipino TV of the past decades. As such, it’s sure to spark the warm sensations of both nostalgia and renewed discovery as viewers come to fall in love with Herlene’s Malta and Joseph’s Sieg.

Puregold marketing manager Ivy Piedad adds, “The ever-present face mask is now a symbol of hope and self-love for our lead in this new series. And we hope to entertain a large number of viewers online especially given the Pinoy’s fondness for light, romantic comedies.”

“Ang Babae sa Likod ng Face Mask” streams for free on YouTube Puregold Channel every Saturday, 6 pm, beginning June 11.

Top EDM artist Jace Roque is making a comeback in the music scene. He took a break in his music career to address mental health issues. He is happy to announce that he is back on his feet and ready to start anew from where he left off.

He admits his mental health was affected by the pandemic. He had a hard time coping with lost singing opportunities during the pandemic. But he is now back with renewed vigor and enthusiasm. And he is happy that his fans did not desert him and waited for his return.

Jace rebranded himself as a PPop soloist along with the announcement of his highly anticipated mini album, “Inferno.” He released his Tagalog comeback single, “Di Para Sayo” on April 22 and his English comeback single “Be Someone” on May 20, debuting at no. 25 on iTunes Philippines and is featured on Spotify Philippines’ Fresh Finds.

“Di Para Sayo” is his first Tagalog single and it is his contribution to the vibrant P-Pop scene. The song talks about Jace’s journey to realizing his worth. Recently, he fell madly in love with someone, literally pouring everything he had into the relationship, only to realize that the person he gave his heart and soul wasn’t worth it.

“Artists have to reinvent themselves in order to grow. Changing my look with every new release is normal for me. Because I went on a hiatus and I’ve been away from the limelight for more than a year, the changes I made for this new era may come off as drastic. But actually, they’re not. This is where I’ve always been headed, towards a more edgy and mature persona.”
