Morissette announces engagement to fellow singer

CEBU, Philippines — Cebuana singer Morissette Amon revealed yesterday on her Instagram account that she has been engaged to Dave Lamar for months now.

"More than just an 11:11 wish, you're an answered prayer. I love you @davejlamar, always have and always will," the 24-year-old Kapamilya mainstay began in her social media post.

Morissette, dubbed as Asia's Phoenix, wrote that after informing their families and most of their closest friends about their engagement months after her 30-year-old boyfriend proposed, they felt ready to finally share the news to the public.

"Nine years since we've met, best friends for seven, our second round at love, each other's firsts...and now, last and only. Thank You Lord for all that you're blessing us with, keeping us strong and allowing us to live our dreams together. Our love story is great because You orchestrated it, and we're so excited for this next chapter of our lives," she continued.

Morissette and Dave were both contenders in the first season of ABS-CBN's "The Voice Philippines." Just last year, Morissette's father, Amay, fired off a series of Twitter posts that implied he was against her boyfriend for encouraging her to disrespect her parents and disregard family values. This began, he said, when the singing sensation moved out of the family home at Dave's suggestion. To date, the couple has kept mum on that issue.

The 'ASAP' performer thanked Dave for staying and fighting for her.

"To the one whom my soul loves, this is it. Even before I knew, God already went ahead and has blessed us in ways I couldn't have imagined. Our journey wasn't at all perfect, but it's beautiful and ultimately, ours. Thank you for staying. You didn't just fight for me, but also believed in all that I can do, even when I didn't."

"I am looking forward to everything we will learn and accomplish together. I mean we've already been at it and this is only the beginning. As you used to say 'endless possibilities!' and as your song goes, this ain't 'Something Only We Know' anymore., It's definitely a yes to a forever with you!"

A native of Minglanilla, Morissette left Cebu for Manila at 14 years old to pursue a music career. She emerged as runner-up on TV5’s singing tilt “Star Factor”, and later on was a semi-finalist in the first edition of “The Voice Philippines.”- VAB
