Romantic series ‘I Got You’ premieres tomorrow on TV5
CEBU, Philippines — A romance-drama series featuring former Kapamilya talents is among the first of six shows produced by block timer Brighlight Productions that will debut tomorrow on TV5.
Directed by Dan Villegas, “I Got You” will premiere this Sunday, Oct. 18, at 2 pm, right after “Sunday Noontime Live,” another offering from Brightlight that will begin challenging the current Sunday noontime shows of GMA Network and ABS-CBN.
“I Got You” has Beauty Gonzales, Jane Oineza, and RK Bagatsing entangled in a love triangle. Beauty plays a therapist named Del who returns from Spain after 17 years. She will cross paths once again with ex-boyfriend Louie, an ex-soldier suffering from PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). He seeks out psychiatric help, which would lead him to Del. Seeing her again gives him a renewed zest for life, but he has a fiancée to consider, the optimistic and enthusiastic beauty vlogger Rizza played by Jane.
“The challenge for Louie is, ano nga bang mas matimbang na love for him: yung past niya kay Del or his present love?” shares RK in a virtual media conference. He is working with Jane for a third time, after they partnered in the television series “Araw Gabi” and the film “Us Again.”
Beauty describes “I Got You” as “a really cute love story that a lot can relate to. It talks about family and past loves. It also has a bit of comedy, so hindi puro iyak lang. You can expect a lot of kilig moments.”
Coming from the sensational hit series “Kadenang Ginto” gave Beauty pressure to follow it up with another successful show, but its par for the course for the actress.
“With every show I feel the pressure because I want to give my best and I want people to relate to every character. This show, I’m confident enough that it’s a good one,” she said. “Single moms with returning exes will be able to identify.”
The three stars admitted to hesitating at first when the project was offered, but the health and safety policies of the production gave them the confidence to saddle up for work.
“I’m glad to have a project even at this time of a pandemic and get the chance to work, it just happened that it’s with TV5 and Brightlight Productions,” said Jane.
“There weren’t a lot of adjustments since the people I’m working with now, I’m already familiar with since I’ve worked with them before. The adjustment was more on the new normal taping life.”
For RK, one factor for his initial reluctance to return to taping was his 75-year-old father whom he lives with.
“But with the protocols and policies in place, they are focused on creating a safe set, so it helped with my decision. And coming from a few months without work, I think it’s time to go out there and figure out how to make it work even with the pandemic still present,” said the actor.
Securing her husband’s permission to go out of the house, Beauty too felt nothing but excitement to get back on set after a seven-month rest.
“I prepared by drinking a lot vitamins and I’m proud to say we all tested negative,” she shared.
