Despite many offers, safety first for Kuya Dick

Many are asking why filming for the Roderick Paulate-starrer “Mudrasta” under TREX Entertainment Productions hasn’t started yet. This drew speculations that it is Kuya Dick himself who is causing the delay.

“Mudrasta” was supposed to start filming last March under the helm of Julius Alfonso but we all know that Covid-19 started to show its teeth sometime that March which resulted to the government declaring a lockdown, causing work stoppage for everyone.

Mass gatherings are not allowed during the pandemic so how can a film production outfit start work on a project if we can’t be sure of everyone’s safety?

We sought Kuya Dick’s comment on the delay of the shoot of his comeback film.

“Hindi lang naman decision ko kung bakit di pa kami start shooting. Safety ng lahat ang iniisip ng TRex producer na si Rex Tiri,” said Kuya Dick via text message.

“Ako din naman may takot din kasi marami kami sa shooting at mahirap magtrabaho ng maraming limitations at safety protocols. Baka mahirapan din ang lahat at mag-suffer din ang story. Kaya ang plano ay wait muna at tignan at pag-aralan mabuti ang sitwasyon,” the award-winning actor added.

Kuya Dick said the rise of Covid-19 cases in the country is alarming and so the government once again imposed MECQ for 15 days to arrest the rise of infections. So everything returns to what it has been since March when quarantine was first imposed.

“Maraming risk ang haharapin at magastos din para sa producer kung lahat laging magpapa Covid test bawat shooting,” Kuya Dick also said.

The last time we had a chance to talk to Sir Rex Tiri, the amiable producer of “Mudrasta,” he said they are looking at the possibility of filming next year, when it can be sure that it is really safe.

Sir Rex wouldn’t want to risk the lives of the stars and production staff just to start filming. He’d rather wait when it is really safe for everyone.

Even if he has two more movie offers, Kuya Dick decided to give priority to “Mudrasta” before accepting other projects waiting in the wings. He has an offer from Direk Joel Lamangan, and another one for a TV show.

If and when it is really safe to go back to work, Kuya Dick hopes to do a new show for GMA-7. He enjoyed doing “One of the Baes” and how the production team took good care of him.

He is likewise excited to work again with GMA Entertainment TV for which he did “Munting Heredera.”

“Okay pala gumawa ng show na may taping three times a week. Maayos ang schedule nila,” said Kuya Dick, looking back to the time he did “Munting Heredera.”

The huge following of “Gameboys” felt sad with the announcement of The IdeaFirst Company that they are delaying the release of the last three episodes of the popular Pinoy BL series for two weeks.

Safety precautions is the reason why Direk Perci Intalan and Jun Robles Lana decided to delay the streaming episodes 11 to 13 on the YouTube channel of The IdeaFirst Company.

“Our shoot for Ep 11 and 12 is ongoing but we got worried that we might be forced to slow down or limit our movements, and we might be hand to mouth just to reach the premiere. If that happens, we are afraid we might compromise the quality of our work. We don’t want that to happen.”

Direk Perci added they just wanted to make sure that they have the best episodes for the sake of the followers of “Gameboys.”
