If you're among those who had been watching Gameboys" on YouTube, this offering from The IdeaFirst Company has really caught the attention of viewers who look forward to the next episode of the series every Friday night.
It must have been quite a challenge to shoot the series since the scenes are shot individually and separately from the homes of their cast members. In essence, the stars Kokoy de Santos, Elijah Canlas, Adriana Agcaoili and Kyle Velino don’t see any of their co-actors. They only hear their voices.
In an exclusive interview with producer Perci Intalan with Star Circuit, he expressed pride with his cast. “In the scenes where they are together in one frame, wala silang kaharap na artista. Kamera lang. Kaya ‘yung iyak ni Kokoy and reaction of Elijah were of a different [level] because they only hear the audio and the dialogue yet they were able to make the scene work well."
We also asked Direk Perci to share the background of Kyle Velino, a new character named Terrence who is the old flame of Gav (Kokoy). He said Kyle is a talent of Star Magic and they had an audition for the role of Terrence. Direk Jun Lana wanted a particular look and attack for the role of Terrence so that he can be a worthy third wheel for Gav and Cai.
“Pearl si Adrianna So. She is our artist in IdeaFirst. She usually plays kontrabida roles pero now namin nakita na kaya pala niya ang ganitong klaseng role. The fans say she is like Heart Evangelista na parang bading,” he said with a laugh.
The episodes of "Gameboys" are aired every Friday but they had a difficult time during the second episode. It takes four to five days to finish an episode since they all strictly adhere to the work from home set-up.
Direk Perci shared that a lot of "Gameboys" fans cried after watching the episode last Friday when Gav cried and bid Cai goodbye. A friend told us he wanted to cry when Gav cried. “Kokoy was very good in that episode. Elijah and Kyle were equally good but Kokoy owned that episode,” said our friend.
“In fairness to Kokoy, he was very good. He gave his all. Sabi ko nga bibilib ka lalo pag naalala mo na hindi sila nakatingin sa isa’t-isa. Sa camera sila pareho nakatingin, naririnig lang nila ang audio ng isa’t-isa,” added Direk Perci.
“Their acting is really impressive considering na they are just reacting sa audio pero ang facial expressions on point. Na-master na nila. Ang hirap niyan nung simula. Kahit sina Adrianna at Kyle nanibago.”
Fans of "Gameboys" have something to look forward to every Friday night and yes, it’s true that there is a movie in the works.
According to direk Perci, they are looking for funds to finance the movie but they will definitely have one as Direk Jun already has a lot of ideas for the film version.
