Stars from rival networks unite for 12th Gabay Guro

PLDT-Smart Foundation’s flagship advocacy program for teachers, Gabay Guro, celebrates its 12th anniversary with a star-studded Grand Gathering and launch of the Gabay Guro App on September 22 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Gabay Guro is gathering over 20,000 teachers from all over the country for a star-studded Teacher’s Tribute headlined by the country’s biggest stars. Set to perform are Aegis, Angeline Quinto, Christian Bautista, Eat Bulaga BakClash, Eat Bulaga Broadway Boys, Edward Barber, Erik Santos, Darren Espanto, Gabby Concepcion, Ian Veneracion, Jaya, Jay-R, Jayson Dy, Jed Madela, Jona, K Brosas, Klarisse de Guzman, Kyla, Kuh Ledesma, Martin Nievera, Maymay Entrata, Moira dela Torre, Piolo Pascual, Pops Fernandez, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Zephanie Dimaranan.

In support of Gabay Guro, talent management Cornerstone Entertainment Inc., and Eat Bulaga enlisted their celebrity talents to perform for the Grand Gathering as volunteers. The event will be hosted by Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Dimples Romana.

Since 2007, Gabay Guro has been empowering teachers across the country through its seven key pillars: housing and educational facilities, scholarships, trainings, livelihood programs, broadbanding and computerization, annual Teacher’s Tribute, and the newly launched innovations pillar.

The new innovations pillar of Gabay Guro aims to reinforce the digital transformation of teachers, school leaders and stakeholders by equipping them with new modes of teaching and the latest technology that will enable them to create, grow, and evolve their craft for the benefit of their students.

At the Grand Gathering, which is open to all public and private school teachers, those attending will get the chance to win exciting prizes like gadgets, TV sets, cash prizes, livelihood packages, a Gratour Van from Foton, and a brand new house and lot.

They say timing is everything and you have to be at the right place and right time. The girl-fronted band, CHNDTR, certainly fits the bill being an act fine-tuned for the current lovestruck and stylish digital, daring generation.

CHNDTR has solid achievements over the past few years of its remarkably noteworthy existence. Its debut album, “Habang Umuulan,” already garnered a total of almost two million streams and more than 87,000 listeners on popular digital engine Spotify and other platforms of its kind.

Its breakout gig came in 2016 when it won grand champion at the Deli Music Festival Battle of the Bands supervised by retail chain Robinsons. In no time, they became brand ambassadors for Pony, a reflection of their music’s positive public reception.

Its new single, “Sulat,” is definitely proving to be an instant hit among the band’s growing number of fans, with the song’s music video quickly getting thousands of views right after it got posted on YouTube. It is a track – an apparent sequel to their well-accepted song “Kulang” – that captures the essence of Hugot Core, sa phrase describing CHNDTR’s music and style.

In an interview of their brand of music, they mentioned the term in reference to the fact that “most of their songs has so much feels to it.”

Chin, who is the band’s lead singer and composer, is supported by a trio of talented instrumentalists in Sean De Leon (bassist), Benjo Criste (drummer) and Niko Bacani (lead guitarist).

CHNDTR launched the music video of their latest single “Sulat” at The 70’s Bistro, Anonas, Quezon City. The video was directed by a four-man team namely Paul Bagsic, Ibrahim Manalo, Michael Bihla and Joseph Cacanindin. Official “Sulat” shirts from Doom Shop and Pony discount coupons were available during the event.
