Cebu’s Kyle Echarri launched as Star Magic Circle 2019 member
CEBU, Philippines — Among the 16 faces unveiled by ABS-CBN as members of its Star Magic Batch 2019 is Cebuano singer-actor Kyle Echarri, a “The Voice Kids” finalist whose casting in a currently airing hit afternoon drama has seen his teen star status on the upswing.
Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm that is known to produce the country’s brightest stars, launched last May 22 new names who will be molded to become the country’s next screen idols the likes of Piolo Pascual, Bea Alonzo, John Lloyd Cruz and Angelica Panganiban.
Joining 15-year-old Kyle in this year’s crop are Gillian Vicencio, Belle Mariano, Glen Vargas, Kendru Garcia, Arielle Roces, Eisel Serrano, Ra Lewis, Javi Benitez, Aiyana Waggoner, Arabella del Rosario, Anthony Jennings, JC Alcantara, Sophie Reyes, Melizza Jimenez, and Jeremiah Lisbo.
“Happy and blessed to be part of this batch. It is an honor to be launched alongside these new artists who are full of talent and have so much to offer to the entertainment industry,” Kyle posted on his Instagram account, accompanied with photos of his batch mates.
“It is only the beginning and as we individually grow as artists and get better with/in our craft, we are all excited to share our journey with you all. Congratulations to us, my fellow batchmates! All for the best! Thank you @starmagicphils family for this opportunity.”
Born in Orange County, California, Kyle moved to Cebu in 2014. In the same year, he joined the second season of singing competition “The Voice Kids” where mentor/judge Sarah Geronimo took him under her wing. Kyle was 11 years old then and landed among the Top 6 finalists.
He has released a full-length album under MCA Music entitled “It’s Me Kyle,” with his carrier single “Fall For Me” reaching number four on MYX’s Pinoy MYX Countdown. He also opened for American YouTube sensation Greyson Chance in 2016 and performed at the Fusion 2017 music festival. Kyle has revealed plans to return to the studio and churn out a second album.
The Filipino-American cutie has also ventured into acting, beginning with his stint in the primetime series “On the Wings of Love” as Nadine Lustre’s half-brother. In 2017, he was seen as Marc in the Star Cinema family drama “Seven Sundays.”
Kyle currently plays Kristoff Tejada in the afternoon drama “Kadenang Ginto” which premiered on October 2018 and stars Beauty Gonzalez, Albert Martinez, Dimples Romana, and Adrian Alandy.
With the revenge-themed series turning out to be popular among viewers – proof of that is the show’s extension until 2020 – the young stars of the show, namely Kyle, Francine Diaz, Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin have also enjoyed a surge in followers who have christened the “Kadenang Ginto” foursome as the Golden Squad.
