CEBU, Philippines — After a series of screenings on May 5, 12, 19 and another one next Sunday, May 26, Ginoong Pilipinas Cebu (GPC) has set its final screening on June 1 and 2 before it will present its official 24 candidates on Philippine Independence Day, June 12.
The date for announcement of finalists is apt with the pageant dubbing itself as a search for a New Modern Day Hero. Aside from heroism, Ginoong Pilipinas Cebu’s other major advocacies are sustainable tourism, social enterprise, and health and wellness.
Aspirants – who must stand at least 5’10, 18-27 years old, single and has Filipino lineage – may send their online application and video biodata at Ginoong Pilipinas Cebu’s official Facebook page or send a message to Stylefirm Cebu Fashion & Lifestyle.
A history and culture seminar will be held in June at the Rizal Memorial Library, a talent competition in July, the swimwear competition in August, and the pageant night on September 21 which will be aired live on MYtv Cebu Channel 33 on Sky Cable.
On finals night, candidates will compete in an opening segment featuring a post-modern heroes-themed Cebu Wear collection, a swimwear segment showcasing Lapu-Lapu-inspired bahag, and a Bisaya barong made of hablon segment that is Jose Rizal-inspired.
The 24 will be trimmed down to 12 semi-finalists who will undergo a casual interview to determine the top five gentlemen. The remaining five will then hurdle a final Q&A, after which title-holders for GPC North, GPC South, GPC East, GPC West and Grand GPC Hero will be declared.
The grand winner will then compete this October in Ginoong Pilipinas, which re-emerged this year with the promise of a more illustrious and prestigious search for deserving title-bearers of Ginoong Pilipinas-Universe, Ginoong Pilipinas-Gentleman of the World, Ginoong Pilipinas-Man of the Year, and Ginoong Pilipinas-Imperial Universe. They are expected to represent the country in international pageants. (FREEMAN)
