CEBU, Philippines — Nicole Yance Borromeo continues her winning streak with a second runner-up finish at Miss Teen Philippines 2019 which held its coronation Wednesday night, May 8, at the New Frontier Theatre in Araneta Center in Quezon City.
The 18-year-old Cebuana represented Carcar City in the pageant that saw 32 candidates from all over the Philippines competing to be a youth ambassadress in the global arena.
Nicole, describing herself in her Miss Teen Philippines profile as a lover of the arts who frequently writes and draws, wrapped up her third pageant for the year after winning Sinulog Festival Queen in January and Reyna ng Aliwan just last month. Later this year, she will once again wear the Cebu sash in the national stage as a candidate in Eat Bulaga’s Miss Millennial Philippines.
A high school graduate from Cebu Doctor’s University, Nicole told The FREEMAN last March that she was inspired to join Miss Teen Philippines after being surrounded by people with the same aspirations as she does, as well as to have the chance of being part of an organization that advocates for something important.
As she was in Manila for the pageant – which resurfaced after a four-year hiatus – Nicole was unable to pass on her Miss Mandaue first runner-up crown last Tuesday. Second runner-up Regine Garcia stepped up to take her place.
Crowned Miss Teen Philippines 2019 was Northern Mindanao representative Nikki De Moura, a Filipina-Brazilian who loves painting and Muay Thai.
Completing the court is first runner-up Patricia Lynn Beerda of Iloilo City who spent a summer in the Netherlands as a working student; third runner-up Mikki Angela Barcela of Bicol Region, a music lover who plays guitar and composes songs; and fourth runner-up Joanna Kalkschmidt of Roxas City, Capiz, a Filipina-German who dreams of circumnavigating the world.
The Miss Teen Philippines 2019 winner will pursue the pageant’s advocacies through the help of various local government agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education, and National Youth Commission.
Nicole’s fellow Central Visayas finalists in the pageant are Leigh Chanelle Ong representing Alcoy, Karla Marie Frances Niere for Consolacion, Kylah Sanchez for Compostela, Olive May Sophia Bihag for Liloan, and Kathyrene Kaye Rollins for Argao.
The Miss Teen Philippines 2019 Coronation Night will be aired on May 19, 10:30 p.m. on ABS-CBN.
